Task 5- Review of magazine suitability

Task 5: Meeting the client brief

Learning Outcome 4: Be able to carry out post-production techniques and processes for an original media product to a client brief. (P5)

Now that i have finished creating my magazine front cover and double page spread i feel i should review the suitability of the the target audience that i stated in my proposal.  The primary target audience that i stated in my proposal is 15 to 30-year-old men and women. Specifically, my audience members are the young because i wanted to find out about the music and artists they listen to and why? I wanted to find out if the area they live in influences their choice of preferred music genre. I feel that they magazine front cover and double page spread that i created have met what intended to when writing my proposal. I made it sophisticated but not too much so i could target a young demographic but i made it all about the grime genre which is primarily a genre listened to by teenagers and adults under the age of 30.

I believe that their are many strengths and few weaknesses of my magazine front cover spread. I believe that i have created a front cover that stands out in a small crowd of magazine that are based around the same genre. This is because i focused on an area where people live and love music as supported by what i called the magazine "NL Vibes". The actual visual of my masthead on my front cover could be clearer as it is a bit blurry, although you can still read what it says easily, it could be less smudged. I see the cover lines as the strength of my magazine because it is the stories inside that are meant to entice the reader in and by giving the audience a sneak peak of what to expect to read, this is more likely to draw in an audience. Also linked all three cover lines to what i was asked to do in the client brief. I mentioned the area that the magazine was based around, had a clear focused genre and even mentioned a thriving artist from that specific genre. Another strength of my front cover is the main image. It is clear vibrant and has a good contrast with the masthead because i edited the colour of the original image to black and white to have more of an effect and make it look more like a grime magazine. The anchorage under the main image exclaims what the main article of the magazine entails, giving an insight to the audience of what to expect.

Their are also strengths and weaknesses of my double page spread. The strengths being the heading, subheading and article written on my double page spread. I believe these are strengths because i interviewed  the artist that is the featured main image on the front cover and found out all about the area he lives in, all about his life and experiences in the grime industry so far. I feel that the article captured his thoughts and feelings towards the Grime industry and mentioned the area he lives in a lot. The weakness of my double page spread is the image that i cropped out and placed on a different background. I think i could've cropped him out better as it looks a bit amateurish, this is a negative because it could make the magazine as a whole amateurish. Also i placed him on a background that he does not contrast with very well so it may look weird and different to some of my target audience.
